In a former Young Pioneers summer camp, mosses, fungi, and algae are now shaping the future \u2013 pioneers who pursue no goal other than simply being. Once upon a time, children were prepared here for a better future, in the name of socialism, in a linear and rational way. Today, all further promises of the future seem to have been exposed \u2013 and with them, the very way the future is made: as promises whose fulfillment always eludes us.<\/p>\n
To the camp where the children\u2019s books and educational texts of the socialist era are still being absorbed by the new pioneers, we have entrusted what fell to us as the last great promises for the future: the Grundgesetz of the Federal Republic of Germany, the European anthem, the Treaty of Lisbon, and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.<\/p>\n
For months, microbes, fungi, algae, mosses, and the weather have taken their toll on the paper on which these ideals are written.<\/p>\n
From the remnants, scraps, fragments, tears, and gaps of what was recovered, the future shone upon us. We consulted an LLM like a Pythia, asking it to deliver oracles that defy logic from these complex patterns and structures, based on probability and causality. We sorted, curated, and combined, and now leave to chance what decay did not take away. <\/p>\n
