He is the co-founder and creative director of Nantea Dance Company, based in Dar es Salaam, known for creating visually striking performances inspired by Tanzanian social life, colonial histories, and the dynamics of a rapidly changing world. Tadhi currently co-curates Kiota Cha Dansi, a dance platform in Dar es Salaam developed in collaboration with Goethe-Institut Tanzania and Nantea Dance Company to foster exchange and development within the performance dance scene. In 2024, he was appointed curator of the Dance Platform Project at the Haba na Haba International Dance Festival, bringing together 15 performing artists from across Sub-Saharan Africa in partnership with Goethe-Institut Tanzania.His dance films have received international recognition, including a feature on BBC News (2020), and he was awarded Best Interface with the Public at the Dare to Dance in Public Film Festival (2020). With extensive international experience performing, teaching, and choreographing across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas, Tadhi\u2019s vision centers on exploring diverse forms of beauty through art while contributing to the growth and development of Tanzania\u2019s arts sector and its communities.    <\/p>\n<p><strong>Samwel Japhet<\/strong> is a Tanzanian choreographer, storyteller, and social entrepreneur based in Dar es Salaam. He found his voice through dance after a childhood marked by homelessness and abuse, an experience that continues to shape his return to the body as a site of memory and witness. He uses the body to reflect on social and political realities, blending movement, text, music, visual storytelling, and lived experience. His practice invites critical reflection on human relationships and societal dynamics. His work has been presented in festivals and theatres in over 30 countries across Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America. In 2021, he received the Seed Award of the Prince Claus Fund for Culture and Development. He is a 2024\u20132026 Global Fellow with the Laboratory for Global Performance and Politics at Georgetown University. He is also a Salzburg Global Fellow and serves on the Salzburg Global Advisory Council on Culture and Arts. In 2015, he co-founded Nantea Dance Company to produce touring performances, social projects, and platforms that support emerging dancers in Tanzania and across East Africa. Samwel is particularly interested in building artistic relationships between Africa and the rest of the world.
