A couple’s dialogue, an argument, not an argument, the desire to move forward, the awareness of the hatred between them, an inevitability that resists being sidestepped.

DOES MY SILENCE PROVOKE YOU?

A monologue about everything that was and everything that should not have been. Transparency, fear, security, insight.

The work is grounded in an engagement with the writings of literary theorist, psychoanalyst, writer, and philosopher Julia Kristeva. Her concept of the abject serves as the foundation for the work.

Through it, an attempt is made to get closer to that which is neither object nor subject—that is, what stands between, within, before, and above the protagonist: the unsaid, the spoken, the animated, the time, the pain, the bed, the sheets.
