The format „Independent Work“ was developed many years ago in the acting department. The writer, lecturer and journalist Peter Michalzik acts as a mentor for the student’s final project. Unlike in classical role studies, the students take on full responsibility for content, artistic vision and organization of the performances. This includes coming up with a concept, writing a script – if needed -, aesthetic choices, looking for a suitable space and finding artistic partners for an interdisciplinary work. Out of this freedom and responsibility arise many different forms: From solo performances to musical events, from films to written plays. Diverse, varied and confident is how the eight members of the graduating class are presenting themselves – in a very personal good-bye from the HfMDK.
