What exactly is considered “professional,” and where do we encounter that little word “pro” in our daily lives?

In this workshop, we will discuss our ideas about professionalism, how they arise, and how they shape our lives. Together, we are examining the promises associated with professionalism and how societal recognition is linked to fulfilling them.

Our goal is not to achieve a specific objective: We want to get to know and appreciate different perspectives through a playful exchange; the workshop is open to anyone who has ever felt professional or unprofessional.

For us, “Do It Yourself” and “relaxed” mean that it’s not about perfection, but about asking questions, creating, failing, and experimenting together. So you don’t need to prepare anything or have any experience with theater, art, or theory.

As noprocollective, we bring methods from our praxis and prepare the space, but we make decisions and shape the process together with you based on your needs: We want to share responsibility, to avoid simply repeating power dynamics, and to learn together. How do expectations of professional conduct – toward ourselves and others – shape these group processes, and how do we deal with that?

In that Ramyeon is our constant companion. It’s a meal that can be prepared quickly in large quantities, that is warm and affordable. That’s why it often appears in places where people are working or studying under challenging conditions. Cooking and eating Ramyeon together thus becomes a way for us to wrap up the workshop as a group and reflect on our shared processes.

The experiences gathered during the workshop are foundational to further artistic processes by the noprokollective.

As noprovollective we are asking how to share responsibility and recognition without repeating fixed roles and hierarchies. That is why positions and tasks constantly shift in a playful manner.

When are credits a sign of appreciation and when do they become status, power, opportunities, or money?

Further Information (Language, Age etc.)

Admission is free, but reservation is requested, because the workshop is limited to 20 participants. If you are able to: there will be a donation box to help cover food, materials, and other costs.

The meeting point for the workshop is on the terrace.
It is also possible to join at any time after the workshop has started.

Languages:

The workshop will be conducted primarily in German, but working in multiple languages is an important part of our practice: The facilitators are also fluent in either Polish, Korean, or English. Some of the materials provided are available in these four languages.

Beyond that, we want to facilitate multilingual participation and would be happy for people with other native languages to join in and communicate. Dealing with language barriers is a group task that we will organize together on-site, e.g. through whispered translation, language tandems, or technical aids.

Recommended Age:

Open to all age groups. Children and seniors are explicitly welcome!

Accessibility & Content Notes

Relaxed DIY-workshop / Accessibility:

You are welcome to sit comfortably, leave the room at any time, or stand up and move around. Whatever feels good to you to be able to participate – we will shape the space together based on our needs.

The venue is wheelchair accessible, and there is a wheelchair-accessible toilet.

Some of the chairs in the first row in front of the seating area will be removed to create space for wheelchair users and accompanying persons. During the group processes, the seating area can be rearranged where possible in order to better meet the needs of the group.

Content Notes / Trigger Warning:

Since the content and working methods will partly emerge collectively, we cannot fully name all possible triggers in advance. We will apply care to the process, discuss methods and materials with the group, and make sure that the workshop remains as accessible and comfortable as possible for everyone involved.

Unfortunately, there is no capacity to develop a comprehensive awareness concept for the space. Of course, you can come to the team with concerns, needs or in crisis situations.

An important part of the workshop is to collectively find and try out strategies for situations like these.
