Ensemble Modern’s master class “epoche_f international” will be featured at the F°LAB Festival. Each year, more than 20 young prize winners – aged 14–24 – from national and international youth music competitions are given the opportunity to further their development in the field of contemporary music. To this end, they spend a week at the Lower Saxony State Music Academy in Wolfenbüttel working with the musicians of the Ensemble Modern, who, as instructors, share their experience in the field of contemporary music with them.
Among other works, the young talents will work on pieces by George Benjamin, Anton Webern, and Edgar Varèse, as well as a conceptual piece by Ensemble Modern pianist Herrmann Kretschmar. The results of these intensive rehearsals will be presented this year under the baton of renowned conductor Michael Wendeberg not only at the F°LAB Festival in Frankfurt but also in Wolfenbüttel and Linz.

The epoche_f international master class is organized by the International Ensemble Modern Academy (IEMA), sponsored by the Lower Saxony State Music Academy in cooperation with the European Union of Music Competitions for Youth (EMCY) and made possible by the Lower Saxony Foundation.
The course is a support program of the national “Jugend musiziert” competition.
