The Künstler*innenhaus Mousonturm is bringing Rosas back to Frankfurt! For more than 40 years, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and her company Rosas have shaped dance-loving audiences in Frankfurt – and contemporary dance worldwide. With “GLA55”, De Keersmaeker continues her intensive exploration of Philip Glass’s music. Ellipses, circles, and spirals define the movements of the six dancers. Accompanying them are Philip Glass’s early works, in which the smallest harmonic patterns constantly change and reconnect. Movement arises from repetition, a pull from precision. Bodies and music enter a shared rhythm that feels simultaneously rigorous and surprising, almost mechanical yet deeply sensual. “GLA55” returns to a guiding principle of De Keersmaeker’s practice: exhausting minimal abstract material to the limits of its possibilities. What initially appears clear and orderly begins to circle, to pulse, and to dissolve orientation. In this way, dance becomes directly physically tangible – as a fascinating interplay of time, space, and perception.
