In May 2026, Felix, Joey, and Maren hiked through the Harz Mountains together. Distance: 17.2 km. Walking time: 4 h 05 min. Break time: 2 h 55 min. First-aid kits: 2. Risk: Low.
Topics of conversation: Video games. Road trips. Bark beetles. Joey’s hiking sandals. Sunscreen. Gender politics on the mountain. Dropouts. Outdoor gear. Hiking songs. Germany as a legendary mountainous wilderness. Witch hunts.
Milestones: Climbing the ‘Landsmann’ (840 m). Cooling feet in the ‘Steinerne Renne’. On the way to the summit, realizing that they took a wrong turn and suddenly finding themselves facing a steep slope. Turning back. Finding the right path. Blocking the wrong way with branches.
Snacks: Bread, spreads, bananas, granola bars, apples, cookies, mustard.
In “Yonder”, they approach wilderness, solitude, adventure, the fantasy of a simple life, and city dwellers’ longing for nature from various perspectives. What draws us out into the wild? About half a year after their research hike, “Yonder” finds its way onto the stage of the Frankfurt LAB.
