Location
The Frankfurt LAB is located in the former production facilities and cafeteria of the optical engineering company Klimsch & Co, now known as “Kommunikationsfabrik.” Its two ground-floor halls, which have been converted for professional theater and concert use, are accessible via a central hallway that also leads to the foyer, terrace, office, and ancillary rooms. Deliveries are made through a roll-up door facing the street or via the main entrance.
Hall 1
Hall 1 is 652 m², making it the larger of the two halls. Among other things, it has a black pitch pine floor, a water spray system and a rigsystem with a total load capacity of 3,8 metric tons. The stage area is 15 m wide and 17 m deep. The walls have a light color, but the hall can be turned into a black box with a textile curtain which revolves around all sides. The hall’s equipment includes a mobile seated stand, which can be adjusted to different variants, sizes and segments, accommodating 210 spectators in the standard setup. Video equipment, a lighting rig and a sound system are part of the basic technical equipment.
The dressing-rooms are in the basement and can accommodate up to ca. 50 people. They are equipped with showers, restrooms, a washing machine, and a dryer.
Hall 2
Hall 2 covers an area of 226 m². Among other things, it has a black pitch pine floor, a rail switch system and a black panorama backdrop. It is equipped with light and sound systems and video technology. The mobile seated stand seats 74 persons.
The greenroom and the adjacent toilet and shower are wheel-chair accessible.
Foyer & Terrace
The foyer — equipped with tables, chairs, benches, a coat check, a bar, and access to the restrooms — and the spacious covered terrace with lush vegetation serve as working and resting spaces during rehearsal times and provide space for introductions, artist talks, receptions, or opening-night celebrations during show times.
The foyer and terrace can also be used independently for events. They are equipped with basic sound and light systems and can accommodate approximately 60 people.
